Tara, the Savioress, is a female divinity adopted from the Hindus, in whose religion she was benign as well as a fierce from of the female energy, Sakti. She holds a very special place in the family of Buddhas, being both White and Geeen. As the Green Tara she belongs t the sword family of Amghsiddhi and sometimes betrays on her countenance the falling associated with the family, envy. As the White Tara she is a transcendent being, partaking of the brilliance and perfection of the family of Vairocana. She is seated with lotus at the shoulders and with her hands in the bestowing pose.
